The blockchain landscape is defined by the ongoing trade-off between liquidity and speed. Based on our hourly blockchain ecosystem comparison, Ethereum continues to assert dominance in liquidity depth, holding $14,823.9M in tracked assets. However, execution speed tells a different story.
Analysing the aggregate data reveals the scalability divide. While Layer 1 networks currently retain 94.3% of the total tracked liquidity (TVL), underscoring their role as the secure settlement layer, Layer 2 solutions are significantly faster. L2s are averaging ~50.7 TPS, compared to the Layer 1 average of ~38.0 TPS. This is exemplified by Base, which is leading the pack with ~185 TPS. For yield farmers, the correlation between network activity and APY remains vital. Currently, the highest average yields are found on Ethereum (3.55%), which may indicate higher incentives to attract liquidity. Before allocating capital to these high-yield environments, we strongly recommend checking the Protocol Leaderboard to verify the underlying safety scores of the lending markets involved.
