The Safety Index

Prioritising capital preservation. We filter the noise to highlight pools with high solvency scores, deep liquidity, and audited smart contracts.
Data Updated: 04 Dec 2025, 09:04 UTC

Proven Protocols

We strictly index "Blue Chip" protocols like Aave V3, Compound, and Spark. These systems hold billions in TVL and have survived multiple market cycles without insolvency.

Liquidity Depth

High APY is useless if you cannot withdraw. We filter for pools with substantial TVL (> $500k) to ensure minimal slippage and reliable exit liquidity.

Solvency Check

Utilisation rates near 100% create liquidity crises. Our Safety Score penalises pools where borrowing demand outstrips supply, ensuring your funds remain accessible.

Safety FAQs

Safety is relative. At DeFiStar, we define "Safety" based on three weighted metrics: 1. Smart Contract Risk (40%): The protocol must be audited and time-tested (Lindy Effect). 2. Liquidity Depth (30%): There must be enough capital (TVL) to allow large withdrawals. 3. Utilisation Health (30%): We penalise pools where >90% of funds are borrowed, as this creates withdrawal friction.

Aave V3 introduces Isolation Mode and Efficiency Mode (E-Mode), which compartmentalise risk. If one asset collapses, it does not necessarily drain the entire protocol. Furthermore, Aave is governed by a DAO and holds a Safety Module (insurance fund) to cover deficit events.

While protocols like Aave have internal Safety Modules, these pools do not come with FDIC/FSCS-style insurance. Third-party insurance protocols (like Nexus Mutual) can provide cover against smart contract failure. We recommend users investigate these options for large deposits.
